The Royal College of Psychiatrists has put forward their position on public mental health,

(Oct 2010) which focuses on wider prevention of mental illness and promotion of mental health across the life course. They set out the contribution that public mental health makes to a wide range of health and social outcomes for individuals and society.

The government’s Foresight report on Mental Capital and Wellbeing (Government Office for Science 2008) provides an extensive summary of the best available scientific evidence and recommendations to develop a vision for improving mental wellbeing and meet the challenges of the next 20 years.

The World Health Organisation publication Mental health, resilience and inequalities (Dr Lynne Friedli, 2009) provides an in-depth exploration of mental health as key to understanding the impact of inequalities on health.
