Public health practitioner development is critical to the delivery of the Health and Care Partnership prevention plans and Health Education England’s public health workforce strategy.
A Northern Public Health Practitioner Programme has been lacking to date. With funding secured for the next two years minimum, there is now an opportunity to develop a Northern approach to practitioner development, corresponding with the new geographic HEE Northern footprint.
A paper was taken to the DsPH Systems Leadership meeting to present the case for hosting the programme within the Champs Collaborative. This was endorsed by DsPH and work will now commence to put the programme in place over the coming months.
