We are holding an Awareness Raising Session about the Public Health Practitioner Scheme. This will take place in advance of the application phase opening for Cohort 2 on the 24th January 2020 and closing 2nd March 2020.

This Awareness Session will take place on Friday 17th January 2020 10.30am to 2.30pm and will be held at Warrington Wolves Rugby Stadium (Halliwell Jones Stadium, Mike Gregory Way, Warrington, WA2 7NE).

This session will be useful to attend if you are considering applying to be part of Cohort 2, which will likely commence at the end of April 2020 or early May 2020.

The Awareness event will:

  1. Outline the scheme and the work you would undertake to produce a portfolio of evidence about your practice to evidence the 34 Public Health Practitioner standards. We will also provide an overview on reflective writing, an expectation of those undertaking this practitioner scheme is that they reflect on their practice to support and inform their continued professional development
  2. Provide you with information and take you through the documents you would need to submit as part of th application process:

a. application form

b. practitioner Standard self-assessment document

There will also be ample opportunity for questions about the scheme and the expectations of practitioners. On the day we will have some existing Cohort 1 practitioners, the Chair of the Schemes Steering Group and myself as Scheme Coordinator delivering the event, supporting table discussions, and general queries as they arise.

In the meantime, you may find it useful to review the e-learning resource on the UKPHR website about the Practitioner Scheme here. You will need to register for this e-learning, and you will then receive access and login details.

You may also wish to review our Practitioner webpage for the scheme too, so you have an idea about the scheme’s requirements.
