At the request of the Cheshire and Merseyside Directors of Public health, a review of this mandated service was undertaken as part of a wider piece of work looking at the school nursing service.  This review, which was led by Helen Cartwright from the champs Collaborative Service Support Team, looked at the different models in place across Cheshire and Merseyside, with a view to developing a generic specification outlining options for future delivery.

An audit tool was developed and issued to the Cheshire and Merseyside National Child Measure Programme leads in order to collect information to inform this review.  A report outlining the findings and recommendations of the review has been presented to both the National Child Measurement Programme leads and the Directors of Public Health Executive board and it will now be the responsibility of each local area to implement the recommendations as appropriate.
